eWAPS Platform Portal

Overview

The eWAPS platform is a web hosting platform for Drupal 9 USDA web sites. The platform runs on Rancher and Kubernetes in an on-premise datacenter with DISC (Digital Infrastructure Services Center) at USDA. More information about the architecture can be found here: More information about the specific USDA sites hosted on the platform can be found here:

The eWAPS platform is operated and maintained by vendor Riva Solutions. The team performs operational activities, development, and devops feature work to improve the platform. Operational activities include application monitoring, logging, backups, troubleshooting, and deployments. Development work includes upgrading and patching Drupal websites not currently under development by other USDA vendors. Feature work includes building out DevOps workflows and automation for the efficient operation of the platform, ie. publishing standardized container images. More information on operational activities can be found here:

The eWAPS platform team also maintains a support desk as part of operational activities. This is the main vehicle for development teams to submit troubleshooting or production deployment tickets to the platform team. More information on the support desk can be found here:

The eWAPS platform team also maintains 24x7 incident response for the platform. Documentation on incidents can be found here:

The eWAPS platform team operates in an agile process with two week sprints and associated sprint ceremonies. Daily stand-ups, sprint retrospective, backlog grooming, and sprint planning are all included ceremonies. Requirements come from the DAITO PMO through daily stand-ups and especially during sprint planning. Security requirements come from the DAITO security team, as well as from Drupal Security notifications. See more information about security requirements here:
